Branch Manager – Fort Portal

Location: Fort Portal, Uganda

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drive branch business growth, retention, and revenue collection to maximize profitability.

  • Implement and enforce established bank policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.

  • Manage branch expenditures within the approved budget to ensure cost efficiency.

  • Lead, motivate, coach, and develop a high-performing team by identifying and addressing training and development needs.

  • Uphold and implement customer service standards, ensuring exceptional service delivery and smooth branch operations.

  • Ensure full compliance with credit and operational risk frameworks to maintain a high-quality asset and liability portfolio and minimize NPAs.

  • Oversee monitoring and reconciliation of suspense and general ledger accounts.

  • Guarantee timely and accurate appraisal of customer applications.

  • Manage staff performance, leave schedules, and timely submission of the Branch Scorecard (B.S.C).

  • Engage customers to promote suitable bank products and pricing, while nurturing strong relationships through business forums, client visits, and other networking activities.

  • Oversee the safety, security, and maintenance of branch assets, ensuring proper administration and supervision of branch staff.

  • Conduct periodic operational and compliance checks as outlined in the operations manual.

  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field.

  • Formal training in sales leadership is an added advantage.

  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in banking, including:

    • 2 years in Business Banking

    • 2 years in Relationship Management

    • 1 year in Operations

    • 1 year in Customer Service

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Proven ability to plan and execute sales strategies in a competitive market.

  • Demonstrated experience in customer service and conflict resolution.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong leadership and people management abilities, with a collaborative team approach and the capacity to work independently.
