Job Description
The Area Trade Developer is responsible for managing and scaling a sales agent network for Sun King’s mobile phone product line. Duties include recruiting and certifying agents, ensuring strong sales productivity, driving repayments, and monitoring repayment risks such as First Payment Defaults (FPDs). The role requires extensive fieldwork to visit and support agents, maintain stock availability, enforce compliance with policies, and ensure brand visibility. The incumbent will also engage in customer-focused activities like sales activations and will collaborate with internal teams to align market insights with strategy.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Recruit, train, and certify new and existing agents for phone sales.
Maintain an active base of agents in line with monthly sales targets.
Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly unit sales goals.
Drive activations and campaigns to boost sales in assigned markets.
Train agents on collections to improve repayment performance.
Track and resolve First Payment Defaults (FPDs) and at-risk accounts.
Support agents with repossessions and repayment assistance.
Conduct daily agent visits with clear route plans.
Ensure adequate phone stock availability and enforce inventory policies.
Guarantee agents are properly branded according to guidelines.
Participate in “Table Meetings” and other forums to promote sales.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Degree or Diploma in a business-related field OR 4+ years in sales within FMCG, microfinance, banking, or telecom.
At least 2 years of active driving experience with a valid license (preferred).
Skills & Competencies
Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills.
Deep knowledge of urban and rural markets.
Field sales expertise; target-driven mindset.
Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM tools.
Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
Willingness to travel extensively (5 days/week in the field).
Passion for improving lives in underserved communities.
