About the Project
BRAC Uganda is implementing a transformative Ultra-Poor Graduation (UPG) project aimed at lifting 32,000 ultra-poor households in eastern Uganda out of extreme poverty. The project supports sustainable livelihoods, financial inclusion, social empowerment, and gender equality—enabling households to build assets, improve food security, and participate in local markets.
Job Purpose
The Branch Coordinator will lead and coordinate UPG project operations at the branch level. This includes supervising Project Officers, overseeing field implementation, supporting household graduation pathways, managing local stakeholder engagement, and ensuring quality delivery of project services. The role requires strong field presence, team leadership, and collaboration with technical experts and local authorities.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead planning, execution, and monitoring of UPG activities at branch level.
Develop and track SMART branch-level work plans aligned with project goals.
Supervise and support Project Officers through training, mentoring, and performance management.
Oversee household identification, targeting, onboarding, and coaching activities.
Ensure proper integration of livelihoods, crop/livestock support, and financial inclusion.
Guide participants in selecting viable Income Generating Activities (IGAs) aligned with market demand.
Coordinate the formation and supervision of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs).
Chair the branch procurement committee to ensure transparent and quality asset distribution.
Conduct regular field visits and quality assurance checks on project implementation.
Establish strong working relationships with local government, NGOs, CBOs, and service providers.
Ensure adherence to financial, administrative, and safeguarding standards.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
Promote a safe working environment and uphold BRAC’s safeguarding policies.
Act as a safeguarding focal point within the branch.
Report and encourage reporting of any safeguarding concerns in line with BRAC procedures.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Animal Production, Development Studies, Business Administration, or Social Sciences.
A post-graduate diploma in a related field is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum 4 years of experience in community development, livelihood programs, or poverty reduction initiatives.
Prior experience supervising teams in an NGO or development context.
Knowledge of asset management, crop and animal husbandry is essential.
Key Competencies
Strong leadership and team management skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in basic computer applications
Knowledge of Ultra-Poor Graduation methodologies
Gender sensitivity and inclusion of persons with disabilities
Ability to write reports and deliver presentations
Emotional intelligence, adaptability, and resilience
