Job Description
Coordinate and supervise daily driver activities in liaison with the Fleet Manager to ensure efficient use of personnel, vehicles and equipment.
Support the management and proper use of all fleet-related equipment in line with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise daily driver activities in liaison with the Fleet Manager to ensure efficient use of personnel, vehicles and equipment.
- Support the management and proper use of all fleet-related equipment in line with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Prepare and submit accurate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports to the Fleet Manager.
- Ensure full statutory and regulatory compliance for all drivers and vehicles, including valid driving permits, insurance covers, licenses and clearance of traffic fines.
- Coordinate timely allocation of trucks for loading and offloading across dispatch centres and plant locations.
- Monitor fleet movement using logbooks, trip sheets and GPS systems to improve Turnaround Time (TAT) and submit GPS performance reports.
- Assist in planning driver training programs, coaching, mentoring, and supporting performance appraisal processes.
- Maintain continuous communication with the Fleet Manager and dispatch teams regarding delivery status, vehicle availability and operational challenges.
- Ensure adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards, objectives and work plans.
- Participate in internal and external audits related to fleet operations and compliance.
- Compile and submit reports on fleet condition, availability and maintenance costs.
- Coordinate response to road breakdowns and accidents in line with established procedures.
- Manage vehicle documentation, including licenses, transfers and insurance records.
- Follow up on accident claims with insurance providers and track resolution.
- Monitor and follow up on traffic offences involving company vehicles.
- Maintain and update the Transport Asset Master file and related fleet records.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Fleet Manager in line with operational needs.
