Job Description
The Turbine Operator will oversee the daily operation and maintenance of turbines and their auxiliary systems to ensure smooth functioning during production. This includes monitoring turbine performance, performing routine cleaning and minor maintenance, identifying and troubleshooting equipment issues, and logging performance data. The operator will also be involved in repairs and scheduled out-of-crop maintenance to ensure the turbines remain in optimal working condition.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operate and monitor turbine systems to ensure consistent performance and power generation
Conduct regular cleaning and basic maintenance on turbine machinery
Identify potential operational abnormalities and address them before escalation
Assist in general repairs and scheduled out-of-crop maintenance
Record all key operational parameters in the designated turbine operation logbook
Report equipment issues to supervisors and support technical teams with troubleshooting
Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and operational guidelines

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Professional certification in mechanical operations is an added advantage
Skills and Competencies:
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Ability to work well under pressure and within deadlines
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Flexible to work shifts and respond to emergency call-outs
Experience:
Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or processing plant
