Job Description
The Mill Fitter will be tasked with interpreting mechanical drawings and blueprints to assemble and install mechanical equipment, conduct maintenance, diagnose faults, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. The role involves using a range of hand and power tools to perform precise fittings, inspections, and adjustments. The fitter will maintain accurate maintenance records and collaborate with other departments to address mechanical issues efficiently and promptly.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Assemble and install machinery and mechanical equipment as per technical specifications
Repair or replace damaged or worn machine parts
Conduct regular quality checks to ensure machinery is functioning effectively
Utilize hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and parts replacements
Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and operational standards
Diagnose machinery faults and recommend or perform necessary repairs
Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors about performance issues or safety concerns

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Certification from a vocational institution or apprenticeship in mechanical fitting is an added advantage
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting
Skills and Competencies:
Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation
Skilled in the use of various mechanical tools and equipment
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to safety and operational standards
