Job Description
The Shift Superintendent will be responsible for supervising and managing all factory operations during assigned shifts. This includes ensuring the smooth functioning of rotating equipment used in cane unloading, preparation, milling, juice extraction, and bagasse handling. The role demands expertise in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and process optimization to meet desired crushing rates and maintain production targets. Additionally, the incumbent will enforce housekeeping standards to reduce losses and operational hazards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operate and maintain all rotating equipment involved in cane unloading, preparation, milling, and bagasse conveyance
Identify root causes of breakdowns and rectify promptly to reduce downtime
Implement preventive maintenance schedules and manage critical spare parts inventory
Monitor and regulate crushing rate, mill speed, and cane carrier speeds in coordination with the process department
Troubleshoot technical issues with minimal turnaround time
Supervise lubrication systems for all rotating equipment
Ensure optimal cane preparation and imbibition for effective juice extraction
Maintain cleanliness, housekeeping, and sanitation standards to reduce inversion risks in the milling area
Provide leadership to shift teams and ensure effective communication and coordination

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Skills:
Strong knowledge in mechanical operations and maintenance
Proficiency in computer applications
Good communication, supervisory, planning, and coordination skills
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in sugar milling or similar industrial plant operations
