Job Description
The Territory Manager will be responsible for managing 15–23 retail sites and overseeing the performance of 10–20 Retailers. The primary objectives include improving sales by ≥ 4% Like-for-Like (LFL), maintaining a lubricant-to-fuel sales ratio ≥ 1%, and ensuring debt management targets (DSO < 7 days) are met. This role requires a strong understanding of business operations, HSSEQ compliance, and customer experience management. The ideal candidate will actively engage Retailers, conduct structured site visits, track KPIs, enforce safety protocols, and facilitate training and capability development. The role demands frequent travel within the assigned territory and a commitment to upholding Vivo Energy’s Goal Zero vision.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Sales & Financial Performance
Drive business growth through territory sales targets and business plan execution.
Support Retailers in interpreting P&L statements and improving site profitability.
Monitor stock levels, sales mix, and promotions; ensure proper pricing and product availability.
Execute debt recovery plans and maintain DSO < 7 days.
Collaborate with the Marketing team for site-level activations.
HSSEQ & Goal Zero Compliance
Promote a strong HSSEQ culture aligned with Goal Zero.
Conduct routine HSSEQ audits and ensure closure of findings.
Support emergency response planning and training.
Retailer Relationship Management
Build strong partnerships with Retailers through coaching, support, and performance reviews.
Address behavioral and performance concerns with timely interventions.
Operational Excellence
Execute site visits using Call Planning Cycle and enforce SOP compliance.
Ensure accurate implementation of fuel pricing and audit compliance.
Manage Retailer contract renewals and operational improvement plans.
Customer Experience & Brand Standards
Monitor service levels, enforce brand standards, and support Retailers in guest experience improvement.
Leverage feedback from surveys and tools like TMSR to enhance service delivery.
Site Capability Development
Provide coaching and tools to improve Retailer and staff competence.
Encourage use of field training and business systems for operational excellence.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related discipline.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in sales, retail operations, or territory/field management.
Industry experience in FMCG, petroleum, or services is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong commercial acumen and experience with sales targets and P&L performance.
Ability to manage third-party Retailers and provide structured coaching.
Strong understanding of HSSEQ standards and site compliance.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; retail/field systems knowledge is a plus.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and analytical skills.
Self-driven, highly ethical, and willing to travel extensively.
