Job Description
The Solutions Architect will create and implement high-level roadmaps for business and technology architecture. This role involves recommending and overseeing solution designs across the bank to solve complex business problems while managing change processes. The Solutions Architect works closely with stakeholders to drive business profitability through IT solutions, enhance operational efficiency, and develop service models tailored for client segments. Responsibilities include managing architecture governance, supporting HR digitization initiatives, and ensuring alignment with FirstRand’s enterprise standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop integrated business processes, technologies, information, and application architectural frameworks.
Create high-level implementation roadmaps aligned with FirstRand standards.
Manage teams and foster a culture of growth and performance excellence.
Lead with personal commitment to organizational values and customer-centric service.
Cultivate relationships with stakeholders to promote innovative and integrated solutions.
Oversee budgeting, expenditure planning, and reporting aligned to tactical delivery plans.
Manage IT governance approvals and represent business areas in architecture forums.
Deliver proof of concept solutions and evaluate their fit for business needs.
Manage application architecture operations to ensure cost-effectiveness and data integrity.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum 5 years of experience in IT as a Systems Architect.
Preferably experience in the banking industry.
Degree or Diploma in IT or related field.
Programming knowledge or experience.
2-3 years in Systems Architecture and Kubernetes.
Strong design skills on Linux and Windows systems.
Expertise in Kubernetes/Rancher implementation and administration.
Java development experience is advantageous.
Experience with automated deployments (advantageous).
Solid understanding of infrastructure, data, and application systems.
TOGAF and/or Zachman certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
Knowledge of Test-Driven Development and Agile methodologies.
Experience with OpenShift platform.
