Job Description
The Data Architect will play a strategic role in shaping the data infrastructure of FNB's Core Banking Platform. This role entails mapping out current and future data architectures, converting business requirements into robust data solutions, and ensuring alignment with business and regulatory standards. The role demands expertise in data modeling, big data technologies, ETL pipelines, and cloud architecture. The Data Architect must exhibit strong communication skills and leadership in project delivery, while also remaining agile and responsive in a fast-paced environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable and efficient data models to support business needs
Map current, future, and transitional data architectures in alignment with business strategy
Translate business requirements into databases, warehouses, and data pipelines
Develop ETL frameworks with robust exception handling
Research and implement data acquisition methods and build APIs
Design data governance policies for compliance, privacy, and security
Support data warehousing, data integration, and reporting processes
Lead data architecture projects using Agile, DevOps, or Waterfall methodologies
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy data solutions
Leverage technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Teradata, SQL, SAS, and AbInitio
Integrate cloud computing platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP into data solutions

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Informatics, or a related field
Experience:
8+ years in Business Intelligence, Data Architecture, or similar roles
Hands-on experience with SAS, SQL, and ideally Teradata or AbInitio
Technical and Professional Competencies:
Advanced knowledge of data modeling, ETL pipelines, and information management
Experience in Master Data Management and BI architecture
Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman)
Solid understanding of big data platforms and cloud computing
Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Exposure to Agile methodologies and project leadership
