Job Description

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the SME Relationship Manager will drive the development and implementation of strategies to grow the SME banking segment. The role entails achieving sales targets, developing tailored financial solutions, and maintaining strong relationships with both new and existing SME clients. The candidate will work closely with internal teams to enhance service delivery, monitor compliance, and provide market feedback for product development and innovation. Success in this role will be measured by revenue growth, customer acquisition, client retention, and portfolio quality.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding sales performance by identifying SME customer needs and offering tailored solutions

  • Achieve or exceed targets for SME products and services in line with the bank’s retail strategy

  • Participate in developing and implementing business strategies for SME segment growth

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with SME clients to ensure client satisfaction

  • Recommend improvements for customer processes and participate in product launches

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all bank and regulatory policies

  • Collaborate with business managers to implement and track client financial plans

  • Regularly assess portfolio quality and recommend action for risk mitigation

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree from a recognized institution

  • 3–5 years of experience in SME or retail banking


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven track record in sales and customer satisfaction

  • Strong understanding of banking products, especially in the SME segment

  • Sound knowledge of financial regulations and policy compliance

  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and networking skills

  • Excellent communication and customer service orientation

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Problem-solving skills and business development acumen

  • High level of integrity and “can-do” attitude
