Job Description
The SME Officer will identify and engage new business opportunities, manage client relationships, and ensure proper handling of the bank’s loan portfolio. This includes monitoring repayments, mitigating risks, and meeting monthly and quarterly sales targets. The officer will also generate activity reports for management and provide responsive customer service. The role demands strong business acumen, a track record in SME loan sourcing and processing, and a proactive approach to achieving financial targets.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Source and pursue new SME lending opportunities
Develop and implement marketing strategies to meet revenue goals
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of potential clients and deals
Provide prompt responses to customer inquiries and account-related questions
Monitor existing loan portfolios for repayments and credit risks
Submit regular activity and performance reports (daily, weekly, and monthly)
Perform any additional duties assigned by the Team Lead
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
B.Sc. or HND in Marketing or any related field
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in SME banking, preferably within a microfinance institution
Proven experience in sourcing, processing, and closing SME loans
Strong analytical, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
Ability to thrive independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
