How to Apply
Co-ordination of nursing activities.
Ensure a continuous nursing coverage on wards/units and receive daily reports.
Co-ordinate nursing activities in the wards/dispensaries and ensure that patient focused approach is being achieved
Ensure that aseptic technique is adhered to in the preparation of sterile procedures
Nurse medical emergencies and consult the doctor on complicated cases.
Adequately equip wards/units with supplies and drugs and ensure their safe custody.
Call and conduct regular meetings for nurses and attend hospital management committee meetings.
Participate in offering nursing care.
Participate in the periodical review of manpower in the hospital and advise the medical superintendent on the requirements.
Sensitization & promotion of outreach programs.
Conduct special clinics, health education sessions and out-reach activities.
Participate in Primary health care activities
Record management.
Compile monthly reports generated by the wards and submit a single report to the Medical Superintendent.
Prepare and release duty rosters and annual leave plans for Nursing staff.
Training of subordinate staff.
Identify promotional and training needs of nursing staff and recommend to the Medical Superintendent.
Participate in organization of Continuous medical education for Nursing staff.
Supervision
Conduct support supervision within and to lower units.
Participate in the appraisal for all the nursing staff in the hospital.
Supervise the ward attendants and the team cleaning in the wards.
Other duties.
Enforce staff discipline.
Participates in planning and budgeting for the hospital and lower units.
Perform any other duties as maybe assigned by the Medical Superintendent/Management from time to time.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing/Midwifery or a Degree in Nursing Administration and a Certificate of Registration with the Nurses and Midwifes’ Council.
Additional qualification in Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) &, PMTCT is required. A Certificate in Management & computer literacy would be an added advantage.
Experience, Skills and Competences:
A Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in nursing practice, at least three (3) of which should have been at a supervisory or senior level in a reputable hospital or healthcare institution.
Proven experience in clinical leadership, patient care management, and coordination of nursing activities across departments.
Specific knowledge/skills:
Specific knowledge in the nursing code of conduct, good communication skills and a good team player.
