Job Description

The Senior Accountant ensures the integrity and timeliness of daily bank reconciliations and cashbook reviews, accurate invoicing, and complete allocation of payables and receivables before month-end. The role identifies and corrects ledger errors, prepares monthly financial reports, supports external audits, and assists with tax computations and returns. The position also reviews and authorizes e-Travel payments (petty cash and cheque vouchers), ensures payments are posted to correct supplier accounts, and strengthens internal financial controls across AR/AP. The role requires close collaboration with Credit Control and other stakeholders to resolve issues quickly and maintain accurate financial records.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform daily bank reconciliations; verify that all system receipts are banked.

  • Review daily bank statements; notify Credit Manager of unreceipted direct payments.

  • Review cashbooks and cashbook reconciliations.

  • Ensure daily cash reimbursements are processed on time.

  • Prepare and issue accurate, timely invoices; forward to Credit Control for dispatch.

  • Reconcile and maintain accurate AR and AP subledgers.

  • Ensure all payable/receivable accounts are fully allocated before month-end close.

  • Identify and correct ledger errors prior to month-end.

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports.

  • Assist in audit preparation and coordination.

  • Assist with tax computations and returns.

  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures for AR/AP.

  • Check and authorize e-Travel payments (petty cash vouchers and cheque payment vouchers).

  • Ensure payments are correctly allocated to the proper supplier accounts.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Assistant Chief Accountant.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar accounting role with a proven track record.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPAK) license in good standing.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

  • Strong problem-solving skills; adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
