Job Description
Reporting to the ICT function, Software Developers will conduct system analysis, translate workflows into computer programs, and maintain applications in line with user requirements. They will prepare technical documentation, perform testing, troubleshoot issues, and manage program revisions. The role also includes maintaining system confidentiality, upgrading systems to meet new technology standards, and contributing to team knowledge through continuous learning and professional development. Developers will ensure applications are reliable, secure, and aligned with PPB’s mission of regulatory excellence.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Review project requirements with analysts, supervisors, and clients.
Arrange project requirements into programming sequence; prepare workflow charts and diagrams.
Encode project requirements by converting workflows into computer language.
Program systems by entering coded information.
Conduct system tests, modify program sequences, and debug as necessary.
Write user guides and operating instructions.
Document program development, changes, and revisions.
Maintain system confidentiality and security.
Troubleshoot malfunctions, evaluate equipment, and recommend improvements.
Stay updated on emerging technologies through workshops, publications, and professional networks.
Collaborate with team members to achieve project objectives.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an IT-related field from a recognized institution.
Certified industry accreditations or membership in recognized ICT professional bodies.
Proficiency in software development tools, languages, and computer applications.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (integrity and accountability).
