Project Coordinator – Relive Project Job at Plan International

Job Description

The Project Coordinator is responsible for leading the ReLive Project, ensuring its implementation meets the highest standards of quality, timeliness, and impact. The role manages project delivery on scope, time, and budget while maintaining strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.

The position oversees a project budget of approximately USD 400,000 annually and has financial transaction approval authority up to USD 3,000. The Project Coordinator ensures that project objectives are met and that interventions positively impact children, especially vulnerable youth and girls.

Level of Contact with Children: High – significant interaction

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Initiation

  • Lead the transition from project design to implementation with clear schedules, resourcing strategies, and monitoring frameworks.
  • Review situational analyses and baseline studies to ensure understanding of project scope, targets, and intended impact.
  • Coordinate with Programme Development & Quality (PD&Q) teams to ensure effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) systems.
  • Develop governance structures, reporting protocols, and project plans using project planners/results trackers.

2. Partnership Management

  • Coordinate partner onboarding, due diligence, and capacity assessments.
  • Support partner selection processes and co-develop project concepts aligned with PIU mission and project goals.
  • Develop MOUs, manage partner induction, and ensure understanding of roles, responsibilities, and accountability frameworks.
  • Monitor partner performance, financial management, and compliance with MEL and safeguarding requirements.
  • Facilitate adaptive management and regular review meetings with partners to ensure impact and quality.

3. Communication & Influencing

  • Implement innovative communication and influencing strategies to engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Build strategic partnerships, networks, and coalitions to support project objectives.
  • Represent Plan International professionally in all forums.
  • Ensure community engagement and awareness initiatives are implemented effectively.

4. Project Implementation & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee the timely execution of project activities within scope and budget.
  • Collaborate with PD&Q and MEL teams to analyze results and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Regularly review project outputs for quality, adherence to PIU Programme Quality Policy, and gender-transformative outcomes.
  • Manage project closure activities, including lessons learned, financial reconciliation, and sustainability plans.

5. Risk, Compliance & Accountability

  • Map, monitor, and manage project risks in collaboration with the Risk Assurance Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and statutory requirements, including safeguarding, gender equality, health, safety, and security.
  • Manage project finances in line with accounting policies, ensuring value for money and strong accountability.
  • Support resource mobilization and proposal development for project continuity.

6. Leadership & Staff Management

  • Lead and empower the project team, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and high performance.
  • Foster talent development, coaching, succession planning, and staff well-being.
  • Promote an inclusive work environment with diversity, equity, and employee engagement.
  • Ensure adherence to HR policies and provide a safe and conducive working environment.

7. Safeguarding, Gender Equality & Inclusion

  • Embed Plan International’s safeguarding and gender equality policies into all project activities.
  • Ensure staff and partners understand responsibilities under policies and the Code of Conduct (CoC).
  • Monitor and manage safeguarding concerns in accordance with established procedures.
