Women’s International Peace Centre (formerly Isis-WICCE) is a feminist, Pan-African organization founded in 1974 and headquartered in Kampala, Uganda. Our mission is to ignite women’s leadership, amplify their voices, and deepen their impact in building sustainable peace. Through our unique WEAVE model—which combines research, advocacy, healing, skills-building, and movement support—we work with women war survivors, human rights defenders, and women’s rights organizations across Africa and Asia.
The Peace Centre spearheads the Women’s Situation Room (WSR), a non-partisan initiative that mobilizes women and youth to promote peaceful and democratic electoral processes. The WSR aims to ensure inclusive participation and peaceful elections through active citizen engagement, particularly by women and youth.

Job Description
Position Title: Programs Volunteer – Women’s Situation Room (WSR)

Reports to: Leadership Development Lead
Duration: 6 months
Type: Volunteer (Part-time or Full-time)

Role Overview
The Programs Volunteer will support the implementation of the Women’s Situation Room – Uganda project, working closely with program staff, partners, and communities. The role involves assisting with planning, stakeholder coordination, reporting, documentation, and field follow-up, contributing to the Centre’s goal of peaceful, inclusive democratic processes.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Leadership Development Lead, the Programs Volunteer will:
Assist in Project Implementation: Support day-to-day planning and execution of WSR activities across project districts in coordination with program staff and the MERL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning) Manager.
Work Plan Development: Contribute to the development and tracking of detailed activity work plans aligned with project timelines and WSR standards.
Participate in Project Reviews: Engage in regular review meetings (weekly, monthly, quarterly) to monitor implementation progress and contribute to problem-solving.
Learning & Documentation: Help gather and document success stories, lessons learned, and outcomes; contribute blogs and articles for internal and external platforms.
Reporting: Assist in the preparation of narrative project reports, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with project goals.
Proposal & Fundraising Support: Contribute to the development of funding proposals and support fundraising efforts to strengthen program sustainability.
Other Duties: Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the National Coordinator or project team to support the Centre’s work.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Core Competencies
Availability to commit part-time or full-time for the 6-month volunteer period.
Strong commitment to the values and mission of WSR and Women’s International Peace Centre—especially peacebuilding, women’s rights, and democratic governance.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Good organizational skills, time management, and flexibility.
Self-motivated and proactive with a willingness to learn and contribute.
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Gender Studies, or a related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in local languages is an added advantage.
Previous experience with NGOs or civil society organizations, especially in areas of governance, human rights, peacebuilding, or women’s empowerment.
