Job Description
Community-Based Protection Caseworker
Location: Matanda – Kanungu District, Uganda
Organization: Alight Uganda
Employment Type: Temporary
Salary Scale: 1,015,258 UGX
Number of Positions: 1
Position Overview
Reporting to the Protection Officer, the Community-Based Protection Caseworker will support community participation and protection activities within the field, ensuring vulnerable individuals receive appropriate assistance and community needs are met.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead community engagement initiatives, including infrastructure maintenance and support for Persons with Specific Needs (PSNs) and Extremely Vulnerable Individuals (EVIs).
Monitor and report on community activities and participation.
Facilitate community mobilization and support translation needs.
Conduct regular follow-ups with PSNs/EVIs, reporting on wellbeing and health.
Maintain updated records on PSNs/EVIs in your area.
Assess and report emergency or protection-related incidents promptly.
Assist in the distribution of food and non-food items, prioritizing vulnerable groups.
Participate in community worker meetings and adhere to organizational standards.
Follow up on protection issues under supervision.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Requirements
Diploma in Social Work, Community Psychology, Education, Development Studies, or related field.
At least 1 year of experience supporting community-based initiatives.
Basic knowledge of community services is preferred.
Fluency in English and local languages spoken in Kyangwali settlement is essential.
Strong understanding of the local population and culture.
Valid motorcycle license and ability to ride a motorcycle is mandatory.
