Job Description

Job Summary
Baylor Uganda is seeking a dynamic and committed Prevention Officer to support the planning, coordination, and implementation of the Global Fund/TASO HIV-TB project activities within selected districts. The role will focus on advancing HIV prevention strategies, including targeted support for Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW), enhancing community-facility linkages, and fostering strong stakeholder collaboration for impactful and sustainable service delivery.
This position involves extensive fieldwork (up to 80%), demanding strong organizational, interpersonal, and technical skills, with a focus on underserved and hard-to-reach communities.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of HIV-TB prevention activities across supported districts in alignment with national guidelines and project frameworks.
Provide technical support and supervision during on-site implementation of Global Fund/TASO-supported activities.
Collaborate with the regional Monitoring & Evaluation Officer and Cluster Coordinator to maintain accurate and up-to-date tracking of project activities.
Ensure timely documentation and reporting of monthly and quarterly project outcomes.
Build and strengthen partnerships with district stakeholders, civil society organizations, and community structures to support project implementation.
Enhance referral and linkage systems between community service points and health facilities for AGYW-focused services such as HIV, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), gender-based violence (GBV) support, and tuberculosis care.
Support the establishment of District Technical Working Groups (TWGs) and Community Quality Improvement (QI) Teams to drive AGYW-focused interventions.
Prepare and manage weekly, monthly, and quarterly activity plans, budgets, and implementation schedules.
Represent Baylor Uganda at district-level forums, including extended District Health Team (DHT) meetings, technical working groups, and partner coordination meetings.
Contribute to the documentation of success stories, case studies, and blogs to showcase project impact and promote learning.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Public Health, Social Sciences, or related Humanities/Health discipline.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, particularly in AGYW or DREAMS Initiative implementation (strongly preferred).
Proven ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder activities, especially in community-based or district-level health programs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in field-based environments.
