We are looking for a committed and proactive professional to join our team as an Operational Risk Officer.
Position Summary
The Operational Risk Officer will play a key role in implementing and maintaining FINCA Uganda’s Operational Risk Management Framework. This role supports the identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of operational risks across departments to ensure effective governance and long-term sustainability. The Officer will also promote a culture of risk awareness throughout the institution.

How to Apply
Coordinate business continuity activities, including resumption tests, departmental continuity tests, staff training, and call tree updates.
Conduct operational risk assessments to identify recurring issues and recommend corrective measures that address root causes.
Investigate operational incidents, perform root cause analysis, and track implementation of corrective actions.
Implement and review Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) tools, maintain risk registers, and support departmental risk forums.
Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards, policies, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
Raise risk awareness through training sessions, sensitization workshops, newsletters, and internal communications.
Conduct operational risk stress testing to maintain a forward-looking risk profile and support decision-making within the institution’s risk appetite.
Follow up on and resolve findings from internal/external audits and Bank of Uganda inspections, ensuring no recurring issues.
Perform risk-based reviews of business units and branches, and recommend actions to strengthen internal controls.
Test the effectiveness of operational risk controls to ensure proper execution, documentation, and governance.

Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
A certified risk management qualification, CPA, ACCA, or a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Relevant training in Operational Risk Management within the financial services sector.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in banking, with at least 1 year in banking operations.
Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
