Job Description
Deloitte (Uganda) Limited currently has an exciting opportunity for one (1) dynamic person to join our Tax & Legal – Tax team as a Senior Tax Consultant. We are looking for an innovative, agile, driven, engaging and proactive individual to take our Tax business to the next level. The position will be based in our Kampala office in Uganda.
The incumbent will become part of a well-established team working with clients to understand, plan and execute effective commercial and tax strategies, assisting clients to respond to new legislation both in Uganda along with ongoing international tax reforms at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) level. As a Senior Consultant you will provide a comprehensive range of services, from strategic tax advisory projects and corporate transactions, to assisting clients with their evolving compliance and reporting obligations. You will be empowered to take responsibility for your own portfolio of clients, allowing you to take ownership of your workload, whilst delivering great service to a variety of businesses across different industries.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Client management and advisory: Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring high-quality service delivery, timely completion of projects, and adherence to budgets.
- Business Tax compliance: Review corporate and monthly tax returns and as well as support clients with tax health checks, development of Tax Procedure Manuals and any other business tax support as needed.
- Strategic tax planning: Advise clients on both domestic and international tax issues and provide guidance on interpreting new legislation by explaining its relevance and assessing its potential impact on their business.
- Client and revenue authority liaison: Act as a key point of contact for clients and the revenue authority, drafting correspondence and resolving queries.
- Business development: Build strong client relationships to maintain existing business and generate new opportunities including involvement in preparation/review of proposals.
- Team leadership: Coach and mentor junior staff by providing both on the job training as well as being involved as a trainer in structured or formal training programmes.
- Project management: Plan and execute engagements which includes communicating effectively with internal and external teams, supporting with KYC processes and managing deliverables; and
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned to you from time to time.
