Are you a strategic thinker with the ability to make sound decisions to drive business growth through sales and leadership? We are looking for a forward planner with strong business acumen, a high sense of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical abilities to join our team as the National Sales Manager.
Sales Strategy Development: NSMs are responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to meet the company's revenue targets and growth objectives. This includes setting sales targets, defining territories, and establishing sales quotas.
Team Management: NSMs lead and manage the sales team, including recruiting, hiring, training, and mentoring sales representatives. They set performance expectations, provide coaching and feedback, and ensure that the team is motivated and aligned with the company's goals.
Sales Planning and Forecasting: NSMs develop sales plans and forecasts based on market trends, customer demand, and historical data. They analyze sales metrics and performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
Customer Relationship Management: NSMs build and maintain relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders. They may participate in sales presentations, negotiations, and business development activities to secure new accounts and partnerships.
Sales Operations: NSMs oversee sales operations, including sales administration, order processing, pricing, and contract management. They ensure that sales processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with company policies and procedures.
Market Analysis: NSMs monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities and threats. They conduct market research and analysis to inform strategic decision-making and product development efforts.
Performance Tracking and Reporting: NSMs track sales performance against targets and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). They prepare regular sales reports and dashboards for senior management, providing insights into sales performance, trends, and opportunities.
Education: A bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, sales, or a related field is typically required for NSM positions. Some employers may prefer candidates with a master's degree or MBA.
Experience: NSMs typically have several years of experience in sales management, with a proven track record of success in driving revenue growth and leading high-performing sales teams. Prior experience in a similar industry or market segment may be preferred.
Leadership Skills: NSMs must have strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a team of sales professionals. They should be able to set clear goals, provide direction, and foster a collaborative and results-driven culture.
Strategic Thinking: NSMs should have strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to develop and execute sales strategies that align with the company's overall objectives. They should be able to analyze market dynamics, identify opportunities, and adapt to changing business environments.
Communication and Negotiation Skills: NSMs should have excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers, resolve conflicts, and influence decision-makers. Effective communication internally with cross-functional teams is also crucial.
Analytical Skills: NSMs should be analytical and data-driven, with the ability to analyze sales data, metrics, and trends to identify insights and opportunities for improvement. Proficiency in sales analytics tools and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems is often required.
Adaptability and Resilience: NSMs should be adaptable and resilient, able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic sales environment. They should be able to handle pressure, overcome challenges, and make sound decisions in high-stakes situations.
