Job Description
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Sales and Distribution and will implement strategic sales and distribution initiatives, ensuring continuous expansion of the company’s market footprint. This includes developing policies, managing change initiatives, building distributor capabilities, monitoring sales against targets, and enhancing efficiency of distribution channels. The position requires strong leadership, market analysis, and the ability to align sales strategies with the company’s long-term goals.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Managerial Duties:
Develop and implement national sales and distribution policies and processes.
Design and execute comprehensive sales strategies aligned with company objectives.
Support the Head of Sales & Distribution in developing routes to market and ensuring target achievements.
Lead, manage, and motivate a nationwide sales team to achieve targets.
Provide regular reports and presentations to senior management on sales performance, opportunities, and risks.
Operational Duties:
Monitor sales performance against set budgets and targets.
Manage distribution channels and optimize logistics efficiency.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasts.
Conduct continuous in-market assessments to evaluate route-to-market performance.
Lead implementation of sales and distribution best practices.
Build distributor capabilities in infrastructure, processes, and systems.
Foster strong customer relationships to drive loyalty and retention.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field (mandatory).
Professional training in sales/marketing will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 8 years’ senior management experience in sales and distribution, preferably in FMCG.
Proven expertise in sales techniques, retail/wholesale management, and customer segmentation.
Strong knowledge of market dynamics, consumer behavior, and competitor strategies.
Excellent skills in sales forecasting, budgeting, and pricing strategy.
Strong people management, performance management, and coaching abilities.
Negotiation and effective communication skills.
Proficiency in data-driven decision making and use of analytics tools.
A valid Kenyan driving license with experience.
