Job Description
The Logistics Officer will support the Group’s operations by overseeing the movement of materials from suppliers to the end users. This includes reviewing and processing purchase orders and delivery schedules, liaising with suppliers to resolve issues, and monitoring inventory to ensure optimal stock levels. The officer will arrange transportation of materials, inspect incoming shipments, implement tracking systems for materials in transit, and negotiate rates with suppliers. Additionally, the role involves ensuring compliance with international and local regulations concerning imports, exports, and re-exports. The officer will evaluate supplier performance and ensure timely delivery of goods in optimal condition. The officer will also provide periodic reports on logistics activities and collaborate with relevant departments to meet delivery deadlines.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Coordinate the timely movement of materials from suppliers to end users.
Review and process purchase orders and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Liaise with suppliers to resolve issues related to material shortages, quality, or delivery delays.
Monitor inventory levels and reorder materials as necessary.
Arrange transportation of materials efficiently and cost-effectively.
Inspect incoming materials for quality and accuracy and report discrepancies.
Implement and maintain tracking systems for materials in transit.
Negotiate better rates and services with carriers and suppliers.
Review customs/import duty calculations and follow up on discrepancies.
Ensure all import transactions are completed with relevant documents submitted.
Monitor and evaluate supplier performance.
Ensure compliance with local and international procurement regulations.
Liaise with departments to ensure on-time and safe delivery of goods.
Maintain accurate records and provide reports to the Head of Supply Chain.
Build and manage relationships with Customs officers and other relevant officials.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
HND/BSc in a related field.
Aim to pursue a professional certification in Supply Chain (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, CPSD).
Experience:
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in logistics coordination or supply chain management.
Competencies:
Strong knowledge of logistics coordination and time management.
Excellent supplier relationship management skills.
Strong negotiation skills and proficiency in oral and written communication.
High level of integrity and strong customer service skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
