Job Description
The Logistics Officer plays a pivotal role in the planning and execution of all transportation and logistics activities. The role includes sourcing and managing logistics providers, coordinating with customs officials and freight forwarders, and handling all shipping documentation. The officer ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and works closely with the supply chain and sales teams to meet customer and production delivery timelines. Tracking shipments, resolving delivery challenges, and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders are integral aspects of this role.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for both local and international shipments
Source, evaluate, and manage logistics providers and freight forwarders
Coordinate timely transportation and delivery of materials for production and customer fulfillment
Prepare and verify shipping documents including invoices, Form M, packing lists, product certificates, and waybills
Liaise with customs and clearing agents for smooth importation of goods
Raise and follow up on requisitions and payments for logistics service providers
Monitor email requests and work with the supply chain team to organize transport logistics
Collaborate with the sales team to understand and fulfill customer delivery needs
Arrange material pickups from local and international suppliers
Track shipments and communicate with all logistics partners to monitor progress
Proactively address delays or delivery issues to avoid disruptions
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering or related field
Certification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is an added advantage
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a logistics or supply chain role
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and coordination abilities
Proficiency in logistics documentation and shipment tracking
Knowledge of customs and import/export procedures
