How to Apply
Laboratory analysis and investigations
Participate in carrying out laboratory tests, interpret results and submit reports to the clinicians at the hospital and lower level health centres.
Prepare laboratory reagents
Co-ordinate sample collection and processing between the ward and the laboratory
Participate in the investigations of epidemic disease outbreaks and report to the Medical Superintendent
Ensure full functionality of the blood transfusion services in the hospital.
Supervision and maintenance of the laboratory
Co-ordinate, supervise and institute quality control measures in the Laboratory
Institute safety measures against laboratory hazards and ensure safe disposal of laboratory wastes
Ensure that all laboratory equipment is serviced on time and kept functional
Maintain the inventory of all equipment in the Laboratory
Ensure that similar preparations by subordinates are in accordance with established procedures
Prepare indents for laboratory reagents and sundries Staff training
Identify promotional and training needs of Laboratory staff and recommend to the Medical Superintendent
Organise continuous medical education for Laboratory staff Report writing
Prepare laboratory monthly report and submit to the Medical Superintendent
Participate in the primary Other duties
health care activities and research
Attend relevant meetings in and outside hospital
Perform any other related duties as maybe assigned by the Medical Superintendent/Management from time to time
A minimum of a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques from a recognized Institution and a Certificate of registration with the Allied Health Professional Council
Experience, Skills and Competences:
A minimum of at least three (3) years working experience as a laboratory technician in a reputable hospital
Specific knowledge/skills:
Good supervisory skills, counselling and good communication skills.
