Job Description
Reporting to the Managing/Executive Director, the Human Resource & Administration Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and structures that align with the company’s culture and business goals. The role involves employee relations, performance management, recruitment, payroll administration, and ensuring compliance with labor laws. In addition, the manager will provide executive administrative support to the Directors, oversee strategic projects and board communications, and manage relationships with consultants, auditors, and external stakeholders.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic HR Management
Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and strategies.
Formalize HR structures to support company culture and growth.
Develop strategic workforce plans to support expansion.
Ensure compliance with Kenyan labor laws and accurate employee records.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
Serve as primary HR contact for employee relations and grievances.
Lead performance management and attendance tracking systems.
Promote employee engagement and positive workplace culture.
Recruitment & Onboarding
Oversee end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and orientation.
Build and manage relationships with external recruiters and consultants.
Recruit and oversee casual labor for specific projects.
Payroll & Benefits Administration
Coordinate with finance for payroll processing and benefits.
Make compensation recommendations to the board.
Executive Administrative Support
Manage board and departmental communications.
Provide administrative support to Directors, including confidential reports and presentations.
Oversee strategic projects, high-level events, and stakeholder communications.
Monitor performance of external partners such as consultants and auditors.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Human Resource Management).
Post Graduate Diploma in HR Management or CHRP(K).
Valid IHRM practicing certificate.
Minimum of 5 years of HR experience with strategic HR exposure.
Technical Competencies
Strong knowledge of Kenyan labor laws.
Proficiency in HR practices, recruitment, performance management, and employee relations.
Demonstrated ability in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Behavioral Competencies
Strong business acumen and strategic thinking ability.
High emotional and social intelligence.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Proactive, self-driven, and able to work independently.
High integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
