Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and people-centered HR & Administration Manager to lead and strengthen our Human Resources and Administration function across the organisation.
Position Summary
The HR & Administration Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that support Umoja Microfinance’s business objectives. This role oversees all aspects of human resources and administration for a fast-growing organisation with over 700 employees across multiple locations in Uganda.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Lead and manage the HR & Administration function at head-of-department level.
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organisational goals.
- Provide strategic advice to senior management on workforce planning, talent management, and organisational development.
Recruitment & Talent Management
- Oversee recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention of staff across all branches.
- Ensure the organisation attracts, develops, and retains high-performing employees.
- Implement performance management systems and staff development programs.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Manage employee relations issues, including disciplinary processes, grievances, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure full compliance with Ugandan employment law and HR best practices.
- Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
HR Operations & Administration
- Oversee payroll inputs, benefits administration, and HR records management.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of employee data and documentation.
- Supervise office administration and general support services.
HR Metrics & Reporting
- Use HR data and metrics to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Prepare regular HR reports for senior leadership.
- Monitor trends such as turnover, absenteeism, and performance.
Leadership & Culture
- Promote a positive, ethical, and high-performance workplace culture.
- Lead, coach, and develop the HR & Administration team.
- Act as a role model for Umoja Microfinance’s values and people-centered approach.
