Group Chief Financial Officer (Group CFO) Job at Future Options Consulting

Job Description
Provide executive financial leadership across all Group companies, safeguarding and growing the Group’s financial health. The role leads strategy, capital allocation, treasury, governance, consolidated reporting, controls, compliance, and performance management across Uganda and Tanzania, while driving finance transformation (ERP/automation) and working capital discipline.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Finance Leadership & Capital Allocation
- Develop and implement the Group’s financial strategy aligned to business priorities and growth targets.
- Advise the MD/CEO and Board on performance, risks, funding, investments, and capital structure.
- Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and multi-year planning across all entities.
- Provide financial modelling, scenario analysis, and investment appraisals for expansion, verticals, acquisitions/partnerships, and capital projects.
- Drive capital allocation discipline across subsidiaries and ensure ROI accountability.
Group Consolidation, Reporting & Performance Management (FP&A)
- Produce consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Standardize accounting policies, chart of accounts, reporting templates, and close calendars across the Group.
- Implement a Group performance rhythm: monthly business reviews, variance analysis, corrective actions, and KPI dashboards.
- Drive and handle pricing, margin performance, cost-to-serve, productivity, and profitability by product/channel/entity.
- Strengthen management pack quality: clear commentary, root causes, actions, owners, and timelines.
Financial Control, Governance & Compliance
- Ensure full statutory, tax, and regulatory compliance across all entities (Uganda and Tanzania).
- Lead external audits and coordinate internal audit actions; ensure timely closure of findings.
- Design and enforce strong internal controls: approvals, delegated authority, segregation of duties, reconciliations, and documentation standards.
- Maintain and continuously improve finance policies/manuals, delegated authority matrix, and governance frameworks.
Treasury, Liquidity & Banking
- Own Group cashflow forecasting, liquidity planning, and funding strategy.
- Manage bank relationships, facilities, covenants, and financing negotiations.
- Monitor debt obligations, capital structure, FX exposure (as applicable), and payment controls.
- Oversee treasury controls (cash approvals, payment runs, signatories, limits) and ensure aligned cash prioritization across entities.
Working Capital & Credit Governance
- Strengthen credit policy governance and collections discipline across outlets/branches/subsidiaries.
- Drive improvements in DSO, receivables aging, inventory health/turns (finance partnership), and supplier payment terms.
- Implement weekly/monthly working capital routines (debtors reviews, credit holds, exceptions logs, escalation discipline).
- Reduce margin leakage through tighter controls on discounts, returns, credit notes, and pricing compliance.
Corporate Finance, Risk Management & Assurance
- Identify financial, operational, and compliance risks; implement mitigation plans and monitoring dashboards.
- Strengthen fraud prevention and detection controls (payments, procurement, inventory/dispatch, master data changes).
- Ensure adequate insurance coverage and proper claims documentation (as applicable).
- Maintain a Group risk register and present top risks to executive/board forums.
Systems, Automation & Finance Transformation (ERP)
- Lead finance systems governance across the Group (ERP/Odoo or equivalent): controls, data integrity, user discipline, and reporting quality.
- Reduce manual reporting and build IFRS-ready reporting capability from systems.
- Implement automation and dashboards (budget vs actual, debtors aging, approvals workflows, exception reporting).
- Partner with IT/ERP administrators to deliver and track a prioritized finance transformation roadmap.
- Ensures financial cybersecurity risk oversight, thus financial data protection, cyber fraud risk, and business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
Leadership, Talent Development & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and mentor subsidiary finance managers/accountants; build a strong finance bench across entities.
- Define finance team KPIs, performance management, capability-building, and succession planning.
- Strengthen cross-functional partnership with Sales, Operations, Procurement, HR, and Internal Audit to enforce discipline and support growth.
- Represent the Group in key stakeholder engagements (auditors, banks, regulators, strategic partners) as delegated.
- Ensure Business continuity in cases of crisis, financial management, economic shock planning and contingency liquidity strategies
