Location: Kitgum, Uganda (Supporting Other Area Programs)

Position Overview

The Gender & SBCC Specialist will lead the integration of gender equality, social inclusion, and behavior change communication across FH Uganda’s programs. This role ensures projects are gender-responsive and socially inclusive, effectively challenging harmful norms that limit opportunities for women, youth, and vulnerable groups. The specialist will also spearhead FH Uganda’s safeguarding agenda, developing strong systems and accountability measures to protect children and adults from exploitation and abuse.

  • Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Public Health, Social Sciences, or related field

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in gender equality, SBCC, or safeguarding within INGOs or development contexts

  • Proven experience designing and implementing gender-transformative and SBCC programs

  • Experience leading safeguarding initiatives in humanitarian and development settings

  • Strong understanding of gender mainstreaming frameworks, safeguarding standards, and participatory SBCC methodologies

  • Demonstrated skills in gender analysis, safeguarding audits, and SBCC strategy design

  • Excellent facilitation, training, and capacity-building abilities

  • Strong analytical, report writing, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently with innovative thinking and a results-oriented mindset

  • Commitment to FH’s Heartbeat values and safeguarding standards
