The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform order picker duties.

Forklift Operation:
Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
Load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials using forklifts.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records of material movements and inventory levels.
Perform physical inventory counts and assist with inventory audits as needed.
Order Picking and Packing:
Pick and prepare orders for shipment according to customer specifications.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of orders, including proper labeling and documentation.
Warehouse Maintenance:
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance, reporting any issues to management.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Participate in safety training and meetings as required.

Legal and Regulatory Requirements
Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
Licensing and Certification: Must obtain a forklift operator certification, which often involves completing a training program and passing a practical exam. Certification requirements can vary by country or region.
Health and Safety Regulations: Must adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards in the U.S., or equivalent regulations in other countries.
Training and Certification
Formal Training: Completion of an OSHA-approved forklift training program, which includes both classroom instruction and practical training.
Evaluation: Successful completion of a performance evaluation to demonstrate the ability to operate a forklift safely.
Certification Renewal: Periodic re-evaluation and recertification, typically every three years, to ensure ongoing compliance with safety standards.
Skills and Abilities
Mechanical Skills: Ability to operate and troubleshoot the forklift and related equipment.
Physical Fitness: Good physical condition to handle lifting and moving heavy loads, and to operate machinery for extended periods.
Hand-Eye Coordination: Excellent coordination to navigate and operate the forklift precisely in tight spaces.
