Financial Portfolio Manager
Organization: Relevant Ventures
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Engagement: Full-time
We are seeking a Financial Portfolio Manager to oversee our investment portfolio, ensuring that we back enterprises that deliver both community impact and financial returns.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Capital Pool Management
Build and maintain financial models to evaluate capital pool feasibility and track actuals vs. forecasts
Contribute to portfolio strategy and periodic financial performance reviews
Prepare internal and external reports on financial and impact KPIs
Due Diligence
Lead financial due diligence for potential investees, including review of financial statements and legal documentation
Conduct company valuations to inform investment decisions
Technical Assistance for Portfolio Companies
Provide financial coaching to portfolio companies on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Support implementation and usage of financial systems (e.g., Zoho, QuickBooks)
Offer tailored technical assistance to improve financial operations and reporting
Repayments & Portfolio Monitoring
Track and manage loan repayment schedules
Analyze financial performance of portfolio companies to assess risk and repayment progress
Proactively support investees in maintaining financial discipline
Internal Financial Management
Work with the internal finance team to support financial audits, reviews, and reporting
Provide financial insights and input for accounting and operations teams
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Microfinance, or a related field—or equivalent work experience
Strong proficiency in Excel and experience with financial management tools like QuickBooks and Zoho
Prior experience working with early-stage social enterprises, especially in underserved or rural areas
Interest in impact investing, innovative finance, and social entrepreneurship
Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with limited structure
High levels of ownership, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
Reliable, proactive, and motivated to learn and grow professionally
