Job Description
Vacancy Title: Finance Manager
Hiring Organization: Kiboko Insurance Brokers Ltd
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Key Result Areas (KRAs) / Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Financial Planning & Analysis
Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes
Analyze and interpret monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Banking & Accounts – Receivables Control
Monitor daily cash and bank balances
Authorize all bank payments
Follow up on premium collections and submit payment details to insurers
Calculate and send commission reports immediately upon receipt of premiums
Invoice insurers promptly upon commission confirmation
Track and recover outstanding commissions efficiently
Financial Compliance & Reporting
Ensure timely and accurate financial statements compliant with IFRS
Submit statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, NSSF) on time
Maintain accurate monthly returns records
Collaborate with claims & underwriting teams to file quarterly IRA reports
Coordinate internal and external audits and manage tax compliance
Cash Flow Management
Prepare monthly payment plans, creditors’ reports, and cash flow statements
Reconcile client premium statements with insurer records
Manage banking relationships and financial institution obligations
Handle foreign exchange exposures and mitigate financial risks
Customer Care & Servicing
Maintain regular communication with suppliers, clients, and insurers
Conduct periodic visits to insurers and clients
Stay updated on IFRS changes and developments
Promote a positive and supportive environment within the finance team
Team Leadership & Development
Supervise and mentor the finance and accounting staff
Support staff development through training and coaching
Encourage a culture of responsibility, performance, and continuous improvement
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional accounting certification such as ACCA or CPA is mandatory.
A Master’s degree in Finance or Business Administration is an added advantage.
Required Skills & Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and cost control
Strong experience in cash flow management
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities
High integrity, precision, and attention to detail
Sound understanding of tax laws, compliance regulations, and financial reporting
Experience in the insurance or brokerage industry is highly preferred
Desired Candidate Profile:
Fluent in English with excellent public speaking skills
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP systems
Minimum of 5 years experience in financial reporting or management accounting
3 to 5 years of experience in the insurance brokerage industry is highly desirable
