Job Description
Reporting to regional and country leadership, the Country Programmes Manager will manage end-to-end project delivery in Ghana, including work-planning, budgeting support, MER systems, and donor/internal reporting. The role coordinates with key internal stakeholders (Country Finance Officer, Head of Programme Implementation—WA, Head of Programme Design—WA, Regional Communications & Advocacy) and builds strong relationships with strategic partners. The postholder will guide proposal development, ensure compliance with donor and organizational standards, support staff performance and learning, and represent TREE AID in sector forums. Significant field travel is expected.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee implementation of Ghana country projects to scope, time, budget, and quality.
Lead monitoring, evaluation, and reporting; ensure robust MER frameworks and timely donor reports.
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with government, NGOs, private sector, and communities.
Contribute to project design and proposal writing aligned to TREE AID’s thematic areas.
Coordinate annual/quarterly work plans and risk/issue management.
Line-manage and mentor project staff; promote team learning and performance.
Ensure compliance with organizational, donor, and statutory requirements.
Liaise with Finance on budgets, forecasts, and value-for-money tracking.
Represent TREE AID in meetings, workshops, and advocacy/communication activities.
Uphold TREE AID’s values and safeguarding, EDI, and HSE standards.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Master’s degree in sciences/rural development studies, forestry, environment, agricultural economics, or related field.
Extensive training/experience in at least one TREE AID thematic area: forestry economics, agroforestry, sustainable NRM, food security & nutrition, rural enterprise/entrepreneurship.
Minimum 5 years in a similar senior NGO management role.
Proven leadership and team influence; ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
Strong project development and proposal writing skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication; computer literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Able to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and travel extensively.
Values-led: bold, ambitious, professional, transparent, accountable, quick to learn.
Added advantages: French language ability; valid riding and/or driving licence.
