Job Description
The Childcare Worker will support medically fragile children residing in KenCrest’s Children’s Transitional Care Homes, which serve as a bridge between hospital care and return to the family home. The successful candidate will be responsible for routine childcare tasks, supporting developmental activities, assisting in implementing goal and behavioral plans, and participating in daily living activities. The role includes meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation for medical and social appointments, and collaboration with care teams to ensure a nurturing and safe environment. This position also involves working closely with families and other healthcare professionals to support smooth transitions and long-term care preparedness.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Provide daily care and supervision to medically fragile children
Support children with activities of daily living and developmental programs
Implement individual goal plans and behavioral management strategies
Assist in preparing meals and feeding children as needed
Maintain cleanliness and perform general housekeeping tasks
Accompany and transport children to social and medical appointments
Collaborate with healthcare and I/DD professionals for care planning
Participate in training and family support activities
Ensure a safe and nurturing environment at all times
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
High School Diploma or GED required
Valid Driver’s License
Experience in childcare, child development, or early childhood education preferred
Prior experience with medically fragile children is an added advantage
AED Infant/Child CPR certification preferred
Ability to pass background checks and clear criminal record as per state requirements
Compassionate, dependable, and adaptable with strong interpersonal skills
