Child Protection Officer (Uganda)
Location: PEAS Country Office, Kampala, Uganda (with up to 40% field travel)
PEAS is recruiting a committed and experienced Child Protection Officer to ensure best practices in safeguarding are implemented across our Uganda school network.
In this role, you will champion a culture of child protection by training staff and students, raising awareness of safeguarding policies, and ensuring that concerns are reported, recorded, and addressed promptly and professionally. You’ll support school teams to build safe, inclusive learning environments and lead initiatives that promote gender equity and child participation.
You’ll also play a key role in supporting school leaders to comply with national laws and safeguarding guidelines, working in close partnership with regional and national stakeholders.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Implement and monitor child protection policies and procedures in line with organizational standards and local regulations.
Identify, report, and respond to child protection concerns, cases, or incidents promptly.
Conduct assessments, investigations, and follow-ups on child protection cases in collaboration with relevant authorities.
Provide guidance, support, and referrals for children at risk to appropriate services or interventions.
Deliver training and awareness sessions to staff, volunteers, communities, and partners on child protection and safeguarding practices.
Maintain accurate records of child protection cases, incidents, and interventions.
Collaborate with schools, local authorities, and community stakeholders to strengthen child protection mechanisms.
Monitor and evaluate child protection programs, reporting on effectiveness and areas for improvement.
Support the development and implementation of risk assessment and mitigation strategies to prevent harm to children.
Promote a safe and protective environment for children within all PEAS Uganda programs and activities.
