Job Description
The Cashier will carry out financial transactions with customers using various payment methods, including cash, checks, credit cards, vouchers, and automatic debits. The role involves issuing receipts, refunds, credits, and change, resolving customer queries, ensuring accuracy in sales records, and supporting inventory functions like labeling and stocking. The cashier will also assist customers with their purchases when needed and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Previous experience in a hospital setting is an added advantage.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Receive and process payments (cash, check, card, etc.)
Issue receipts, refunds, credits, and change
Maintain an orderly and clean checkout area
Redeem coupons and issue trading stamps
Address customer complaints and inquiries
Provide information on company policies and procedures
Calculate and reconcile sales totals
Post charges to customer accounts
Sell goods and tickets
Record transaction counts and balance sheets
Stock shelves, label items, and mark prices
Compile non-monetary records and reports
Ensure adequate staffing at checkout stations
Assist customers with carrying goods if needed
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
BTEC Higher National Diploma or Diploma of Higher Education in Business, Finance, or related field
At least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role
Experience in a hospital environment is highly desirable
Strong numerical and record-keeping skills
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and resolve complaints professionally
Integrity, attention to detail, and good organizational skills
