Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Project Accountant, the Finance Officer will be responsible for the disbursement and accountability of project funds, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurate, well-documented, and compliant with internal and donor (especially USAID) regulations. The Officer will support budget analysis, bank and mobile money reconciliations, statutory deductions, and assist in audits and donor reporting. The position requires a high degree of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced NGO environment.

How to Apply

  • Track fund availability and manage project bank accounts

  • Process, reconcile, and liquidate staff travel advances

  • Support preparation of donor financial reports and analysis

  • Review staff accountabilities, claims, and vendor payments

  • Enter transactions into the accounting system with accurate coding

  • Maintain mobile money payment records and reconcile disbursements

  • Assist in general ledger reconciliations and financial audits

  • Ensure compliance with statutory deductions and tax remittances

  • Analyze spending trends and support cost control measures

  • Monitor mobile money transactions and follow up on unpaid items

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and process financial adjustments

  • Support internal and external audits, including closure of audit recommendations

  • Carry out any other finance-related duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or Business Administration

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial management or accounting in an NGO setting

  • At least ACCA/CPA Level 2 qualification

  • Experience working with USAID-funded programs and understanding of USAID financial regulations

  • Familiarity with PEPFAR Expenditure Analysis is a strong advantage

  • Excellent analytical, reconciliation, and reporting skills

  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
