Uganda Revenue Authority is a semi-autonomous government agency under the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development that is mandated to assess, collect and account for government tax and non-tax revenue. The Authority is seeking to recruit persons with proven integrity that are innovative, analytical, self-driven, agile, and resilient with exceptional interpersonal skills to seize the following opportunities.
Assistant Commissioner – IT Security
Number of Vacancies: 1
Job Role / Purpose:
Lead and manage URA’s cybersecurity strategy to protect information assets, infrastructure, and systems from internal and external threats.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and enforce URA’s IT security policies and standards.
Conduct risk assessments and oversee mitigation strategies.
Manage security audits, incident response, and forensic investigations.
Lead cybersecurity awareness programs and staff training.
Coordinate with national IT security stakeholders and compliance bodies.
Supervise the IT security team and oversee all departmental planning.
Ensure alignment of IT security strategy with organizational goals.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are a strong advantage.
Proven leadership experience in managing enterprise IT security.
Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, threat modeling, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
