Job Description
The role entails participating in the review and analysis of merger notifications, conducting economic evaluations, gathering intelligence on market concentration, and preparing reports for internal and legal processes. Analysts will also contribute to advocacy efforts, development of merger analysis guidelines, and compliance with the Authority's internal quality and risk management systems.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Participate in analysis of merger applications by reviewing documents, conducting economic analysis, and drafting reports
Gather intelligence on trends and issues in mergers and acquisitions
Assist in identifying unwarranted concentration of economic power
Collect market data for analysis of mergers
Tabulate and manage data on merger applications
Maintain accurate records of hearing conferences and penalty meetings
Prepare case files for submission to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions
Support preparation of logistics for stakeholder advocacy initiatives
Assist in developing merger analysis guidelines
Support implementation of internal systems such as QMS, ISMS, risk management, and business continuity plans
Actively participate in relevant statutory committees
Identify potential emerging risks and propose mitigation strategies
Contribute to research on best practices in merger review and analysis
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, or any business-related discipline from a recognized institution
Proficiency in economic and financial analysis
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Fulfillment of the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
