Job Description
The Partnerships Manager will be responsible for developing and executing PLP’s fundraising and resource mobilization strategy, establishing and nurturing relationships with donors, funders, and ecosystem partners. The role involves identifying new funding opportunities, coordinating the proposal development process, and managing active grants. The manager will also lead business development initiatives for PLP’s products and services, offer cross-departmental partnership support, represent PLP at strategic events, and deliver actionable market and ecosystem insights. This role is both strategic and executional, requiring a blend of relationship management, analytical, and communication skills.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Fundraising & Resource Mobilization
Design and implement a robust resource mobilization strategy.
Lead the full proposal development cycle: from scouting to submission.
Maintain a pipeline of funders and track reporting obligations.
Strategic Partnerships Management
Cultivate and manage relationships with donors, partners, and funders.
Align funding opportunities with PLP’s program goals.
Develop and maintain a multi-country partnership tracker.
Business Development Support
Identify opportunities for monetizing PLP offerings (e.g., courses, training, talent placement).
Collaborate with internal teams on client-facing proposals and service pricing.
Cross-Departmental Partnership Support
Act as liaison for partnership activities across Outreach, Academy, Executive, Talent Hub, and Community teams.
Ensure internal coordination and reporting of partnership efforts.
Build internal capacity on best practices in partner engagement.
Organisational Positioning & Visibility
Work with Communications to increase PLP’s visibility in industry platforms.
Prepare talking points, briefs, and speaker notes for leadership.
Market Research & Ecosystem Insights
Research trends in tech talent, digital skills, and youth employment.
Track policy, funding, and ecosystem developments.
Benchmark global practices and provide insights to leadership.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Development Studies, Communications, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising, business development, or strategic partnerships in the nonprofit or social enterprise sector.
Demonstrated success in grant writing and donor engagement.
Strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in stakeholder management and project coordination.
Familiarity with tech education, youth employment, or digital skills training sectors is an added advantage.
