The NRM Elections Tribunal continued to record tremendous success in the management of electoral disputes that would emerge out of the just concluded NRM party primaries. The latter part of the hearing process entered its second day, and NRM Director of Legal Services, Counsel Enoch Barata expressed optimism that even more than 15 petitions had been withdrawn, with more than 120 electoral petitions being successfully managed so far.
Speaking from the NRM Tribunal offices located at Plot 30, Kyadondo Road, Nakasero, Barata emphasized transparency and effectiveness of the current process.
"The movement is silky smooth in and out. To date, we have addressed 120 cases. We've consolidated petitions to ensure that we use the time allocated effectively," Counsel Barata added.

Barata confirmed that the 15 petition withdrawals were a positive indication that petitioners are now appreciating the freeness and fairness of NRM primaries.
"This is good. It shows that our candidates are accepting that the electoral process was free and fair," he added.
He also assured that there had been no serious problems to date in the NRM Elections Tribunal hearings.
Verdicts on all the petitions handled by the NRM Elections Tribunal are to be given within seven days from the hearing date.
"The seven days is the standard time to render a judgment unless the tribunal otherwise decides," explained Barata. "The procedure provides for extensions where time is needed, but our practice still stands at seven days."
This assurance of quick and fair ruling process shows the tribunal's commitment to upholding justice and party integrity.
Barata cautioned the petitioners and those petitioned against sharply against efforts by fraudsters who pose as go-between agents.
"Do not give scammers any money to process your petition quickly," he cautioned. "All cases are processed only at the NRM Elections Tribunal offices by official panels of the tribunal."
This is in line with increasingly numerous reports of individuals seeking to exploit petitioners with false commitments and shortcuts in law.
With over 120 petitions addressed and 15 withdrawn by their own volition, the NRM Elections Tribunal is proving true to form as a pillar of accountability and justice within the party.
Counsel Barata's reports attest to the NRM renewed commitment towards transparency, equity, and speedy adjudication of internal election complaints.
As the process continues, the NRM Elections Tribunal also helps to build confidence among party members, consolidating the democratic framework of the party.
