The Electoral Commission of Uganda has announced a nationwide recruitment drive for Presiding Officers, offering 34,344 part-time positions ahead of the upcoming elections. About the Role

Presiding Officers play a critical role in the smooth, transparent, and lawful conduct of elections. On polling day, you will oversee all activities at an assigned polling station, ensuring that voting is conducted professionally, securely, and in line with Electoral Commission guidelines.


This recruitment covers four major categories of elections:

  1. President and Members of Parliament (Directly-elected MPs and District Woman Representatives)

  2. District/City Chairpersons, Lord Mayor, and Councillors

  3. Municipality/City Division Chairpersons and Councillors

  4. Sub County/Town/Municipal Division Chairpersons and Councillors



Key Duties and Responsibilities


As a Presiding Officer, you will:

  • Report directly to the Parish Supervisor.

  • Manage the overall operations of the polling station.

  • Supervise polling assistants and other polling staff.

  • Receive, issue, account for, and safekeep all election materials.

  • Ensure accurate completion of all election forms.

  • Submit election returns to the Returning Officer.

  • Maintain security, peace, and order at the polling station.

  • Keep detailed records of polling station activities.

  • Mobilize desks and chairs to support the voting process.


Your leadership will directly influence the quality and credibility of the elections in your community.




Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

To be eligible, applicants must have:

  • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent.

  • High moral character and proven integrity.

  • Preferably residency within the polling station area.

  • Must be a registered voter.

  • Experience in election-related work is an added advantage.

  • Age: 18 years and above.

Note: You must possess a mobile money-registered phone number in your own name to enable e-cash payments.

  1. Complete a formal job application letter stating their:

    • Daytime phone number(s)

    • Physical address

  2. Submit the application to the District Election Administrator in the district where they wish to work.

  3. Ensure the envelope is clearly marked: “Application for the post of Presiding Officer”

  4. Apply not later than Friday, 19th December 2025.
