Wood and Timber Sales Officer
Location: Luwero & Kampala, Uganda

Contract Type: 12-month contract (with potential transition to full-time employment)

Job Overview
The Wood and Timber Sales Officer will drive revenue growth by identifying, developing, and managing sales opportunities for UgaLumber’s sawn timber and value-added wood products. The role focuses on cultivating strong customer relationships, negotiating contracts, executing sales strategies, and ensuring timely delivery in line with client requirements.
The position requires a strong understanding of timber market trends, competitive pricing, and customer needs. Collaboration with production, logistics, and yard teams is essential to align sales commitments with inventory and production schedules, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development: Identify new business opportunities, pursue leads, and drive timber sales growth.
Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers, distributors, and industry stakeholders.
Market Intelligence & Pricing: Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and pricing to develop effective sales strategies.
Sales Coordination & Order Fulfilment: Work with production and logistics teams to ensure timely order processing, delivery, and client satisfaction.
Reporting & Sales Administration: Maintain accurate sales records, prepare reports, and track performance against targets.
Brand Promotion & Representation: Represent UgaLumber at industry events, exhibitions, and client meetings to enhance brand visibility.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration, Forestry, or a related field.
3–5 years of sales experience in timber, construction materials, or related industrial sectors.
Strong knowledge of timber products, grading standards, and applications.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic sales reporting tools.
Knowledge of Eucalyptus and Pine timber products is a strong advantage.
