Job Title: West Nile Regional Manager

Duty Station: Arua, Uganda
Reporting directly to Water Mission’s Country Director in Uganda, the West Nile Regional Manager will be responsible for leading the West Nile Regional Offices of Water Mission Uganda, including but not limited to the following: leading, teaching, managing, and ensuring adherence to the mission, vision, standards, and values of the organization; office and project management; and design, construction, operation, and maintenance of water treatment and sanitation systems in communities, institutions, refugee settings, and disaster response situations. As a key leader in Water Mission Uganda, the Regional Manager is responsible for leading staff in developing a biblical worldview culture that leads to God-honoring excellence in all their work and reinforcing the following: providing accurate data, empowering staff to have the skills and mindset needed to acknowledge mistakes or problems as opportunities to find appropriate solutions, and empowering staff to consistently work for excellence in solutions that are consistent with Water Mission’s mission, vision, values, and standards. The Regional Manager must be willing to establish residence in Arua, Uganda and be able to work in field settings on a regular basis.

How to Apply
The Regional Manager will be responsible for:
General Responsibilities:
Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.
Engage and participate in prayer before and after team meetings.
Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions.
Other Responsibilities:
Study, embrace, advocate, and lead staff to understand and adhere to Water Mission Uganda’s vision, mission, standards, and values in all areas of office and project operations.
Manage the office(s) and projects in the West Nile region according to approved scope, schedule, and budgets.
Provide timely, accurate, and complete reports of office and project status as directed.
Work in a team environment to provide leadership, direction, and assistance for engineers, technicians, community development staff, administrative personnel, and volunteers to ensure best-in-class quality of output and adherence to Water Mission Uganda’s standards and values.
Ensure that conduct of engineering field work, design, and implementation are conducted according to established engineering principles and standards to a high degree of excellence and dependable accuracy with an appropriate sense of urgency.
Oversee, maintain, and promote partnerships with UNHCR, GIZ, N. Umbrella, and others to ensure Water Mission’s obligations under contracts and MOUs are fulfilled on schedule in accordance with Water Mission’s values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
Prepare written proposals and cost estimates.
Manage multiple simultaneous projects in different locations.
Maintain good communications with Water Mission Uganda staff.
Ensure that each portion of the work is executed according to an agreed-upon Scope of Work, Design, Schedule, and Budget to a best-in-class level of excellence.
Provide training to Water Mission Uganda’s staff and those of other organizations regarding maintenance, operation, organization procedures, and sustainability of implemented solutions.
Provide approval of all program and project-related expenses and purchase orders.
Provide approval of all Water Mission Uganda’s regional offices vehicle and equipment use and lead and manage so that these are operated by approved Water Mission Uganda personnel.
Conduct field inspections and site assessments to ensure that construction/implementation and operation and maintenance are in accordance with plans and expectations.
Participate in disaster response activities as needed.
Prepare and make presentations to the Operations Team, Strategic Partners, donors, and volunteers.
Manage to help ensure that Water Mission country program tracking metrics and data recording and management platforms requirements are satisfied in a timely manner.
Abide by the policies/requirements of the Water Mission Code of Conduct and Staff Policy Manual.
Other tasks as may be assigned.
Relationship and Alignment:
Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Alignment with WM’s Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
Education Qualification and Experience:
WASH experience a preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Engineering, Community Development, Monitoring & Evaluation, Development, etc.) is required, however, equivalent experience in WASH at a high level will be considered in lieu of a degree in a WASH related field.
A master’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Community Development, Monitoring & Evaluation, etc. or management/leadership area) is preferred.
7+ years of progressive project and people management.
5+ years working in development NGOs at managerial level.
Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to build consensus, solve problems, and work collaboratively and effectively with other leaders, volunteers, and employees at all levels.
Demonstrate ability to grow leaders and establish a culture in alignment with WM’s Values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
Ability to thrive in a highly fluid environment and respond to changing requests.
Good written and verbal cross-cultural communication skills. This includes proposal writing, report writing, operational organization, and presentation skills.
Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
Ability and willingness to travel in-country for up to 4 weeks per year. Most in-country trips require this person to travel by long car rides on rough terrain and stand for extended periods of time in hot weather.
Authorization to work in Uganda is preferred and ultimately required.
