UPDF RECRUITMENT OF 600 LOCAL DEFENCE PERSONNEL (LDP)
The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) will conduct a recruitment exercise for 600 Local Defence Personnel (LDP) in the districts of Kamwenge, Kabarole, Bunyangabo, Kasese, Bundibugyo, and Ntoroko. The recruitment exercise will commence on 10 November 2025.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Citizenship: Must be a citizen of Uganda with an original National Identity Card (NIN).
Medical Fitness: Must be healthy and able to undergo medical and physical fitness tests at the recruitment centre and training school.
Age: Must be 18–25 years (male or female).
Education: Minimum formal education of S.4 (UCE) or its equivalent.
Application Letter: Handwritten letter endorsed by LCI, LCII, LCIII Chairpersons, GISO, or DISO is mandatory.
Residency and Conduct: Must be a resident of the district applied for, disciplined, and with no criminal record.
Note: Submission of forged documents is a criminal offense and will lead to prosecution.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS AT RECRUITMENT CENTRES
Applicants must present the following for physical and medical interviews:
Handwritten application letter with endorsements from LC1, II, III, and GISO/DISO
National Identity Card/NIN
O-Level academic certificate
Successfully recruited candidates will be transported to the training school for further training.
