Job Title: Uganda Program & Operations Coordinator

Contract: 1-Year Full-Time

Salary Range: $20,000 – $22,000 annually (with competitive benefits)


Role Summary

We are seeking a Program & Operations Coordinator to lead our Uganda-based programming and operations, reporting to the Rwanda & Uganda Country Director. This role is ideal for a highly organized, action-oriented, and relationship-driven professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

You will oversee the implementation of the Africa Leadership Accelerator (ALA) and Alumni Programs in Uganda, manage logistics and operations, coordinate national events, and engage with our Uganda alumni community. You’ll also receive support from our Rwanda Operations Coordinator and collaborate closely with GHC's global team.

How to Apply

Program Coordination & Fellow Support

  • Lead Uganda fellow recruitment and outreach strategies.

  • Manage fellow selection logistics—application review, interviews, and ranking.

  • Support fellow onboarding and ensure smooth transition into the program.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for Uganda fellows throughout the fellowship year.

  • Plan and facilitate fellow check-ins, coaching sessions, and community-building events.

  • Oversee event logistics: venue sourcing, travel coordination, and safety management.

Partnership Development

  • Support outreach and relationship management with ALA partner organizations.

  • Assist with contract negotiations and cost-share agreements.

  • Maintain communication with ALA supervisors, sharing updates and resources.

Alumni Engagement

  • Strengthen professional relationships with Uganda-based GHC alumni.

  • Organize networking, leadership, and professional development events.

  • Support Uganda alumni chapter initiatives, including planning and execution of activities.

  • Collaborate with the Country Director and Community Impact Team on national strategy and programming.

  • Support regional in-person events such as retreats and leadership summits.

Country Operations

  • Ensure compliance with local legal, financial, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NGO registration, annual returns, health insurance, vendor contracts).

  • Support budget development and financial operations, including banking, fund requests, payments, and monthly expense reporting.

  • Manage day-to-day office administration and vendor relationships.

External Relations & Communications

  • Represent GHC at local networking and public health events.

  • Contribute to donor reports, external communications, and stakeholder materials.

  • Draft community updates and alumni impact stories to share with broader audiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree a plus.

  • At least 5 years of experience in program and operations roles, ideally in a nonprofit or international development setting.

  • Minimum 3 years of programmatic experience in Uganda.

  • Experience with fellow, youth, or early-career professional development is highly preferred.

  • Strong cross-cultural competency; international or regional work experience is a plus.

  • Demonstrated strength in logistics, budgeting, event planning, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Proficient in compliance management, vendor contracts, and financial reporting.
