About the Organisation
Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotions Authority (UFZEPA) is a statutory government agency established under the Free Zones (Amendment) Act No. 30 of 2024. Formed through the merger of the Uganda Free Zones Authority and the Uganda Export Promotion Board, UFZEPA operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives. The Authority is mandated to oversee the establishment, development, management, marketing, maintenance, supervision, and control of free zones, as well as the development, promotion, and coordination of all export-related activities in Uganda.
UFZEPA aims to stimulate foreign investment, enhance export competitiveness, create employment opportunities, and drive sustainable economic growth by providing a conducive environment for businesses. By integrating the functions of its predecessor agencies, UFZEPA streamlines processes, reduces bureaucratic hurdles, and offers incentives that position Uganda as an attractive hub for international trade and investment.

Job Description

Job Title: Trade Information Officer
Salary Scale: UFZEPA - 5
Reports to: Senior Trade Information Officer
Terms: Three (3) Year Contract (Renewable upon satisfactory performance)
Job Purpose: To collect data and disseminate trade-related information and insights to support informed decision making
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operating a modern integrated Export Management Information System (EMIS);
Carrying out preliminary verification of exporters’ documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance and authenticity to meet regulatory requirements;
Supporting export ready companies on registering on different E commerce platforms;
Carrying out trade data analysis; examining trade data statistics on trade volumes, values, trends and patterns;
Carrying out client analysis to understand their needs, preferences and behavior; and
Analyzing targeted international markets, industries and competitor countries.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
a) Academic Qualifications
Either:
i) A Honors’ Bachelor’s degree in either Marketing, International Business, Business Administration, Economics, Information Technology, Computer Science and Data Communications, Information Management Systems, Agricultural Economics or Agri-Business from a recognized University or Institution
Or:
ii) Full professional qualification/Membership of marketing (CIM) from a recognized awarding Institution
