Job Title: Technical Advisor
Organisation: African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
This position will primarily serve as a Technical Advisor supporting workforce, preparedness and response activities within the MoH. He/she will participate in activities designed to strengthen implementation of joint external evaluation (JEE) and national plan for public health security (NAPHS) and other global health security (GHS) activities led by MoH, and other stakeholders in the animal and environmental sectors

How to Apply
The Technical Advisor will work closely with MoH, AFENET, Palladium, WHO and other implementing partners to:
Implement GHS programs and other activities related to PPPR in the country.
Coordinate and support TDDAP2 priority activities including development of training curricula for surge teams, execution of trainings for One Health staff, evaluation/ assessment of GHS programs, etc.
Participate in disease surveillance, outbreak response and response to other public health emergencies, and ensure documentation and sharing of best practices.
Periodically provide support to the field epidemiology training program (FETP) including training of residents, supervision and mentorship.
Prepare regular and timely reports on TDDAP2 project implementation for submission to MoH, AFENET, Palladium and other key stakeholders.
Any other duties as may be assigned by MoH.
A Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or related field.
First degree in a medical related field (MBChB, BVM, Nursing, Laboratory) Other relevant qualifications that will provide added advantage include:
Qualification in field epidemiology (Advanced, Intermediate or Frontline level FETP).
At least 3 years of experience in implementation of public health programs, and training and mentorship of public health staff.
Previous experience of working within a government setting at national level.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Good communication skills.
Competency in use of MS application packages (Excel, word and power point).
Competency in data analysis software applications such as Epi-Info, STATA and SPSS.
