We are looking for a visionary Tech Lead to drive our technology strategy, systems development, and infrastructure operations, while ensuring security, innovation, and regulatory compliance.
Role Summary
The Tech Lead will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and managing Pebuu’s technology roadmap. This includes overseeing systems architecture, IT operations, cybersecurity, compliance, and leading a multidisciplinary tech team. The ideal candidate will ensure technology is leveraged to enable growth, improve efficiency, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

How to Apply
Technology Leadership
Execute the company’s technology vision aligned with business strategy.
Drive innovation through automation, digital transformation, and customer-centric tech initiatives.
Optimize technology use across all departments to support growth and efficiency.
IT Operations
Ensure the performance, scalability, and security of IT infrastructure across on-premise and cloud environments.
Oversee system uptime, maintenance, and the continuous improvement of mobile platforms and backend integrations.
Manage IT service delivery with minimal downtime and effective incident resolution.
Systems Development
Lead the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of core systems and products.
Manage integration with third-party platforms (e.g., APIs, payment gateways, USSD, mobile money).
Oversee end-to-end data governance, including privacy and compliance requirements.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies and tools to safeguard company data and systems.
Ensure compliance with Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, NITA, and Bank of Uganda regulations.
Conduct regular security audits, risk assessments, and penetration testing.
Governance & Reporting
Align IT policies with risk management and regulatory frameworks.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports and support external audits.
Maintain IT asset management and software license compliance.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor a cross-functional tech team (developers, engineers, admins, and support).
Set KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and implement training and development plans.
Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and agile working.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Manage relationships with tech vendors and service providers to ensure performance and ROI.
Work closely with product, finance, customer service, and operations teams to align technology solutions with business needs.
Represent the tech function in leadership meetings and cross-functional projects.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Certifications: Industry-recognized certifications such as CISSP, ITIL, CISA, AWS, or Azure
Technical Skills:
Full-stack development experience
Proficient in backend APIs, databases, UI/UX, server setup
Skilled in at least two programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, C#)
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in tech leadership or senior tech roles
At least 2 years in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment
Proven track record managing complex systems and infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of fintech, digital financial services, mobile money, or banking platforms
